Quote of the Day 6/27/14

                                                     Quote of the Day

How grateful I am to enjoy God’s bounty with you!

Dear Lovers,

Today, you are in store for a refreshing beet salad.  Did you know beets are nature’s Viagra?  One of the first uses of beets was used by the ancient Romans, who used them medicinally as an aphrodisiac.  Science backs this up.  Beets contain high amounts of boron, which is directly related to the production of human sex hormones.  Beets are also a wonderful tonic for the liver, works as a blood purifier, and can prevent various forms of cancer.  Beets, too, are a high source of energy that increases sexual vitality.  You’ll have to agree, sweet beets are a delightful treat in more ways than one!

Beet Salad with arugula and walnuts

1 pound red beets, washed, rinsed, peeled and cut into chunks
3 cups water, enough to cover the beets
1 pinch sea salt
3 cups arugula
3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons olive oil
½ cup mint, chopped
1 cup walnuts, chopped

Preparation

In a quart pan add beet chunks and water over a medium heat.  Add pinch of sea salt.  Cook 45 minutes, or until beet chunks are tender.  Arrange arugula into a bed onto a plate.  Take out the beet chunks and place into a bowl.  Add the balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and the chopped mint to the bowl.  Toss till the mixture coats the ingredients.  Place the ingredients on top of the arugula.  Add the walnuts.   Serve warm.

Dear Lovers,
Are you ready to eat foods that provide maximum energy and nutrients to increase the libido and strengthen your loving relationship through intimacy?  Eating organic whole foods, especially whole grains and vegetables in season brings our bodies back into harmony with nature.  Variety and color in your meal plan stimulates your body, mind, and spirit.  Satisfaction, through eating this way, allows you to relax, be playful, create emotional calmness, and enjoy your most intimate moments.  You’ll notice your heart center more open to you, ready to give and receive in a more sensitive and passionate way.  What you eat also affects your reproductive organs in a positive way.  Your overall sexual energy increases as a result.
Remember to add love to your food preparation.  It sets the tone to the quality of your meal and your relationship.
Today we will focus on a recipe that will emphasize water energy, the energy that supports our sexual vitality

Azuki Bean Vegetable Soup

1 inch piece of kombu (seaweed)
1 cup of azuki beans (sorted, rinsed, and soaked overnight)
7 cups of filtered water
1 cup butternut squash (diced)
1 cup sweet potato (diced)
1 celery stalk (diced)
1 red onion (diced)
¼ head of savoy cabbage (diced)
3 teaspoons of barley miso (dissolved)

Preparation
Place kombu on the bottom of the pan.  Next place the drained azuki beans.  Add water and bring to a boil, uncovered over a high heat.  Boil for 7 minutes.  Then add the vegetables.  Cover and reduce heat to low and simmer until the beans are softened and vegetables are tender, about 35 minutes.  At this time, you are ready to remove about 2 to 3 tablespoons of liquid to dissolve the miso.  Stir the miso into the soup and let simmer about 4 minutes.   Garnish with parsley.  Serve hot.
